Reporting and Blocking

PrayerConnect is a Christian community space. Sometimes a prayer, comment, or update doesn't belong there — spam, abuse, manipulation, content that violates the Community Guidelines. Anyone can report it; you can also block another user so you no longer see their content.

Reporting content #

On any prayer detail page, comment, or prayer update, the overflow menu (⋮ or ...) has a Report option. Choose a reason — Harassment, Spam, Hate Speech, Inappropriate, Other — and optionally add a short note. The PrayerConnect admin team reviews every report within 24 hours.

You can only report the same content once. If you accidentally tapped the wrong reason, contact prayer@prayerconnect.church to update the note.

Blocking a user #

The same overflow menu lets you Block the author of a prayer or comment. The effect is immediate:

  • Their prayers disappear from your Prayer Wall and from any organization feed you share.
  • Their comments and prayer updates no longer appear on prayers you view.
  • They can't comment on your prayers either.

You can manage your blocked-users list at Profile → Privacy Settings → Blocked Users. Unblocking restores their content to your feed (it doesn't notify them either way).

Blocking is private — the blocked user is not told they've been blocked.

What admins see #

PrayerConnect maintains a moderation log (added in v1.1.0) that records every report, block, content removal, ban, and reinstatement with timestamp + actor + target. The log is used for two things:

  • Resolving disputes ("I never reported this") with a durable record.
  • Pattern detection — if a user accumulates several reports from different reporters within a short window, the moderation queue surfaces it.

The log is not shown to regular users. It does not record private messages or DM-style content (PrayerConnect doesn't have those features).

When someone is banned #

If admin moderation determines a user's content violates the Community Guidelines, the user account is set to suspended. The user is sent an email explaining the suspension and is given 30 days to appeal at prayer@prayerconnect.church. Their existing content is archived (not deleted) for the duration of any appeal process. After 30 days without a successful appeal, account data is permanently deleted under the normal GDPR pipeline.
