Editing & Deleting Prayers

Managing Your Prayers #

PrayerConnect allows you to edit or delete your own prayers at any time. These options are available on the View Prayer page — simply click on any prayer card from your Dashboard or the Prayer Wall.

Editing a Prayer #

To edit a prayer:

  1. Click on the prayer card from your Dashboard to open the View Prayer page.
  2. Click the “Edit” button at the bottom of the page.
  3. Update any of the following:
    • Prayer request text — Rewrite or refine what you’d like to pray about
    • Sharing — Toggle whether others can pray with you
    • Urgent — Mark or unmark the prayer as an emergency
    • Anonymous — Toggle whether your name is visible to others
    • Organizations — Change which organizations the prayer belongs to
    • Category tags — Add or remove category labels
  4. Click “Update Prayer” to save your changes.

What Happens After Editing #

When you edit a prayer, it goes through the full processing cycle again:

  • The prayer status changes back to “Processing” (shown as a yellow card on your Dashboard)
  • The previous AI-generated prayer text is cleared
  • A brand new prayer is generated based on your updated request
  • The prayer goes through content moderation again before going live
  • While processing, the prayer temporarily disappears from the Prayer Wall and Prayer Display

Your prayer’s view count and history are preserved — only the prayer content is updated.

Changing Anonymous Status #

You can change whether a prayer is anonymous at any time by editing it:

  • Make anonymous: Check “Post anonymously” to hide your name from other users
  • Remove anonymity: Uncheck the box to show your name again

Note that editing a prayer triggers re-processing, so the prayer will temporarily return to Processing status.

When to Edit #

You can edit a prayer in any status:

  • Active prayers — Update a prayer that’s already live
  • Processing prayers — Change a prayer before it finishes processing
  • Rejected prayers — Fix issues flagged by the content moderation system and resubmit

This is especially useful for rejected prayers — if the Review Notes on the View Prayer page explain why your prayer was flagged, you can edit the text to address the issue and resubmit.

Deleting a Prayer #

To delete a prayer:

  1. Click on the prayer card from your Dashboard to open the View Prayer page.
  2. Click the “Delete” button at the bottom of the page.
  3. A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm.
  4. Click “Delete Prayer” to confirm.

What Happens After Deleting #

Once you delete a prayer:

  • The prayer is removed from your Dashboard
  • The prayer is removed from the Prayer Wall
  • The prayer is removed from all Prayer Displays
  • The prayer’s view history and map data are no longer accessible
  • This action cannot be undone

Important Notes #

  • You can only edit or delete your own prayers — these buttons do not appear on prayers submitted by other users.
  • Editing counts toward the same rate limit as submitting new prayers (10 per hour).
  • The Edit and Delete buttons are only visible when you are logged in and viewing your own prayer.
