Prayer Comments & Subscriptions #
PrayerConnect offers several ways to engage with prayers beyond simply viewing them. You can leave encouraging comments, subscribe to prayers for updates, and celebrate when prayers are answered.
Prayer Comments #
Comments allow community members to share words of encouragement, scripture, and solidarity on shared prayers. They’re a meaningful way to let someone know you’re standing with them in prayer.
How to Post a Comment #
- Navigate to any prayer by clicking on a prayer card from the Dashboard, Prayer Wall, or a shared link.
- Scroll down to the Comments section below the prayer details and any prayer updates.
- Type your message in the comment text area.
- Click “Post Comment” to submit.
Your comment will appear immediately with your name and a timestamp. Comments are displayed in chronological order.
Who Can Comment #
Any authenticated user who can view the prayer can leave a comment. This includes:
- Members of any organization the prayer belongs to
- The prayer owner
Private (non-shared) prayers do not have a comments section — only the prayer owner can see them.
Deleting Comments #
You can delete your own comments at any time by clicking the delete button next to your comment. The following people can also delete comments:
- The prayer owner — Can delete any comment on their prayer.
- Organization admins — Can delete comments on prayers within their organization.
Deleted comments are permanently removed.
Prayer Subscriptions #
Subscriptions let you follow a prayer so you receive notifications when something happens — like a new comment or the prayer being marked as answered. It’s an easy way to stay connected to prayers you care about.
How to Subscribe #
- Navigate to the View Prayer page for any shared prayer.
- Click the “Subscribe” button.
- Choose your preferred notification type:
- Immediate — You’ll receive an email each time there is new activity on the prayer (a new comment is posted, or the prayer is marked as answered).
- Digest — Activity on subscribed prayers is bundled into your daily digest email, so you get one summary instead of individual notifications.
Once subscribed, the button changes to show your current subscription status.
What Notifications You Receive #
As a subscriber, you’ll be notified about the following events:
- New comment — Someone posts a comment on the prayer.
- Prayer answered — The prayer author marks the prayer as answered.
Prayer owners are automatically considered subscribers to their own prayers and will receive notifications for new comments.
How to Unsubscribe #
To stop receiving notifications for a specific prayer:
- Navigate to the View Prayer page.
- Click the “Unsubscribe” button (which replaces the Subscribe button when you’re already subscribed).
You can re-subscribe at any time by clicking “Subscribe” again.
Answered Prayers #
When God answers a prayer, the author can mark it as answered to share the good news with the community.
What the Answered Badge Means #
A green ANSWERED badge on a prayer card indicates that the prayer author has marked the prayer as answered. This badge appears on:
- The prayer card on the Dashboard
- The prayer card on the Prayer Wall
- The View Prayer detail page
- The Prayer Display
Who Can Mark a Prayer as Answered #
Only the prayer owner (the person who originally submitted the prayer) can mark it as answered. To do so:
- Navigate to the View Prayer page for your prayer.
- Click the “Mark as Answered” button.
Once marked, the green ANSWERED badge appears immediately. Subscribers to the prayer will also be notified.
Answered Prayers Stay Visible #
Answered prayers are not removed from the platform. They remain visible on the Dashboard, Prayer Wall, and Prayer Display as a testimony of encouragement to others. They serve as a powerful reminder that prayers are heard and answered.
Tips for Engaging with Prayers #
- Leave a comment — Even a short “Praying for you” can be deeply encouraging to someone going through a difficult time.
- Subscribe to prayers you care about — Stay connected and celebrate together when the prayer is answered.
- Mark your prayers as answered — Sharing answered prayers builds faith and encourages the community.
- Click “I Prayed for This” — Let the author know you’re lifting their request to God.
