Using the PrayerConnect App #
This guide walks through the PrayerConnect app for iPhone and Android. If you haven’t installed it yet, see Getting the PrayerConnect App.
The app has four tabs at the bottom of the screen: Dashboard, Prayer Wall, Submit, and Profile.
Dashboard #
- See your counts at the top: Active prayers, Shared prayers, and Views.
- Search your prayers with the search box.
- Your prayers are grouped as active, pending (still being processed), and not approved. Tap any prayer to open it.
- Pull down to refresh.
- Tap the sun or moon icon at the top to switch between light and dark mode.
- If you lose your connection, the Dashboard shows the last copy it loaded until you are back online.
Submitting a prayer #
- Tap Submit.
- Write your prayer request.
- Choose your options:
- Share publicly — anyone can see and pray for a shared prayer, including on the Prayer Wall, prayer feeds, and PrayerConnect’s social media. Leave it off to keep the prayer private to you.
- Mark as urgent — highlights it as an emergency prayer request.
- Post anonymously — your name shows as “Anonymous” everywhere the prayer appears.
- Prayer style — the voice the AI uses to write your prayer. See Choosing a prayer style.
- Funding link (optional) — a link to a fundraiser for this need. See Attaching a funding link.
- Organizations and tags — where the prayer belongs and how it’s categorized.
- Submit. Your prayer shows as pending while our AI writes the prayer and checks it against the Community Guidelines, usually within a minute or two.
Older versions of the app call the share switch “Share with community”. It works the same way: a shared prayer is public.
Viewing a prayer #
Open any prayer to see the request, the AI-written prayer, its badges (URGENT, SHARED, ANSWERED), and its view count. From there you can:
- Tap 🙏 to let the author know you prayed for them.
- Write a note in the comments and tap Post Comment. Comments are available on shared prayers.
- Tap Subscribe to follow the prayer, by email on every update (Immediate) or in a daily summary (Digest).
- Use the menu to Report the prayer or a comment, or to Block the author. See Reporting and Blocking.
On your own prayers you can also:
- Post an update to share news.
- Tap Mark as answered.
- Tap Boost to bring a shared prayer back to the top of the Prayer Wall. See Boosting a prayer.
- Tap View map to see where your prayer has been viewed.
- Tap Edit to change the request or its options, or delete the prayer. Editing sends the prayer through processing again.
Prayer Wall #
The Prayer Wall shows shared prayers from the community, newest first. Search, pull down to refresh, and tap a prayer to open it and pray.
Profile #
- Organizations: see the organizations you belong to, Browse Organizations to find public ones to join, and accept or decline Pending Invitations.
- Request an Organization for your church or group, and track it under My Org Requests. See Requesting an Organization.
- Notifications: choose your Prayer Support Digest (Daily, Weekly, or Off) and, for each organization, the Email and Push notices you want, then tap Save.
- Privacy Settings and Community Guidelines.
- Sign out, or Delete My Account.
Organization admins also see their organization’s reports and Prayer Display links when they open the organization.
Privacy Settings #
- See which version of the terms you accepted, and your consent history.
- Download my data as a file you can save or share.
- App lock: turn on Require biometric unlock to need Face ID, a fingerprint, or your phone’s passcode to open the app.
- Manage Blocked Users.
- Delete my account (with a 7-day grace period you can cancel). See Privacy & Data Management.
Available on the web for now #
A few newer features are on the web app at prayer.prayerconnect.church and are coming to the app in a future update:
- Seeing who prayed for your prayer.
- Choosing whether to show your name when you pray for someone.
- Where you’re signed in and Sign out everywhere else.
- Editing your profile name and Plus Code.
