When a prayer mentions a real financial need — medical costs, funeral expenses, a family rebuilding after a fire, a missionary in transition — you can attach a crowdfunding link so people moved to help have an easy path. The link appears as a small button on the prayer detail page and a FUNDING badge on the Prayer Wall card.
The Funding link field is on the Submit Prayer screen and the Edit Prayer screen, just below the prayer style dropdown.
Supported platforms #
PrayerConnect only accepts links from established crowdfunding services:
- GoFundMe (
gofundme.com) - MealTrain (
mealtrain.com) - Givebutter (
givebutter.com) - Classy (
classy.org) - Fundly (
fundly.com)
If you paste a link from a different platform, the form will reject it with a "Supported platforms…" error message. This is intentional: we want the link icon next to a prayer to send viewers somewhere safe, not to whatever URL the author pasted.
What other people see #
- On the Prayer Wall card: a small green FUNDING badge alongside other badges (SHARED, ANSWERED, BOOSTED).
- On the prayer detail page: a button under the prayer text labeled with the host (e.g., "gofundme.com"). The button opens the link in a new tab.
- In the AI-generated prayer text itself: nothing — the prayer isn't aware of the link.
Privacy and security #
- The link must use
https://—http://is rejected. - We open links in a new tab with the browser's "noopener noreferrer nofollow" protections so the funding-site can't reach back into PrayerConnect.
- We don't track click-throughs.
When NOT to attach a link #
- If your prayer doesn't actually mention a financial need.
- If the campaign is for someone else and you haven't talked to them — let the person whose need it is post their own campaign.
- If the campaign is for political donation or anything that's not a personal-need fundraiser.
The pastor or admin moderation team can ask you to remove the link if they think it doesn't fit.
